Thank you so much for your generosity and support in providing donations and other assistance for people evacuating the fires.
Within only a few minutes of yesterday’s announcement of donation collections, people were showing up at the Yachats Commons with boxes and bags of donations.
Thanks to you, we have taken 11 car/truck loads of donations up to the distribution center in Toledo in the last 24 hours.
We’ve also been working directly with evacuees who are currently staying here in Yachats after having lost their homes in the Otis fires. Several restaurants and community groups offered immediately to help with providing food, clothing, and other essential items to them.
These families want to convey their deepest gratitude for all of your support.
We will be continuing to monitor the various fires throughout the state and working to provide support for those who are impacted.
Next week, as other opportunities to volunteer or contribute become known to us, we will share that information, including whether we will be taking more donations.
As a reminder, Yachats remains under a complete burn ban that applies to wood, charcoal, and other flame sources that cannot be turned off with a valve.
